Research Grants

Metis grant-writing specialists have an impressive record of accomplishment in developing winning grant proposals to support research studies. In partnership with our clients, we have secured highly competitive grant funding (from both government and private sources) that has been used to design and carry out research studies aimed at establishing an evidence base for a wide range of program interventions.

  • Metis helped Future Foundation, an Atlanta-based youth development agency, obtain a five-year federal research grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services to rigorously test the effectiveness of a year-round, collective impact approach to preventing teenage pregnancy.
  • Metis collaborated with Inner Resilience, a nonprofit formed after September 11 to address the socio-emotional needs of public school communities located in lower Manhattan, to secure a Fetzer Institute grant to support a rigorous impact study of the program’s stress-reduction approaches, such as "mindfulness," on teacher and student outcomes.
  • Metis worked with both New York City Outward Bound and Bard Early Colleges to win grant funding from the Booth Ferris Foundation to conduct well-matched comparison group studies to assess their programmatic effects on participating youth, such as socio-emotional learning, academic outcomes, and college enrollment/persistence.
  • Metis and the City University of New York (CUNY) worked together to obtain funding from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation to conduct a randomized controlled trial study assessing the impact of the Accelerate, Complete, and Engage (ACE) program on undergraduate achievement, persistence, and graduation at CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
