Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York: Evaluation of College Persistence and Success among Students with High Academic Needs

Metis has evaluated the US Department of Education Predominantly Black Institutions grants to Medgar Evers College, an institution that serves many first-generation and older college students, since 2008. Over two grant periods, Metis has studied program implementation and outcomes and evaluated progress toward the grants' objectives. Through a mixed-methods evaluation, Metis is examining program implementation to address the needs of at-risk students, including curriculum development, faculty development, and program supports aimed at student persistence and engagement. The evaluations have also analyzed student outcomes, including rates of college course completion, time to graduation, and graduate school applications and enrollment.
