Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; Rowan University; and Kean University: Assessment of a Math and Science Teaching Initiative
From 2004 to 2007, Metis evaluated the New Jersey Math and Science Partnership initiative, a joint effort among three universities (Rutgers, Rowan, and Kean) and 12 school districts throughout New Jersey. The initiative, supported by the National Science Foundation, provided professional development to math and science teachers in schools in these districts. Although mainly targeting teachers of grades K-12, the initiative also included a component on enhancing science education for preschool students. Metis conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the initiative, including analyses of changes in school course offerings and in the diversity of student enrollment in rigorous math and science programs, as well as longitudinal analyses of student achievement data.
